New Value Add-On for BHA’s Premier Course Students: Relux Desktop Third Party License Now Included – November 2025 Newsletter

Big News for Advanced Diploma in Illumination Engineering & Lighting Design Course Students: Relux Desktop Third Party License Now Included in the course programme!

We’re excited to announce a major enhancement for students enrolled in BHA School of Lighting’s premier education programme – the Advanced Diploma in Illumination Engineering & Lighting Design. Starting this November, every learner in this flagship course will receive free access to the Relux Desktop Third Party License, valued at 67 CHF/year per user (approximately US$75 or ZAR 1,400 per year per user), as part of their educational course toolkit for the duration of their course enrollment.

Why is this important?

The number one reason is that Relux members provide a large number of luminaires and sensors for planning purposes free of charge when using the free light planning software version. However, ReluxThirdParty enables you to compile your complete project using products from third-party suppliers, i.e., non-Relux members. This means students can:

  • Access and integrate a wider range of lighting products beyond the Relux member catalogue.
  • Import, plan and design lighting projects using third-party supplier’s photometric files.
  • Import and work with complex 3D models from external sources.
  • Perform high-level simulations and photometric analyses for realistic lighting scenarios.
  • Export and share projects in professional formats for collaboration.

This capability ensures learners gain hands-on experience with tools widely used in the industry, preparing them for real-world projects.

*Please note: this license is strictly for educational purposes only and cannot be used for commercial business activities.

Autodesk Product Value Add-ons

In addition to Relux, students continue to enjoy full access to Autodesk’s industry-leading software for the duration of their enrolment:

  • AutoCAD – valued at $2,095/year per user
  • Revit – valued at $3,005/year per user

These tools enable students to:

  • Create detailed lighting plans and circuit diagrams in AutoCAD.
  • Edit and collaborate on architectural models in Revit, then export IFC files for seamless integration with lighting design software like Relux and DIALux.

How to Get Started

Once enrolled, you’ll receive activation details for both Autodesk and Relux licenses. No eligibility verification required – we’ve handled everything for you.

This is just one more way BHA School of Lighting is supporting your future in lighting design. With these powerful tools, you can design boldly, model smartly and light the way forward.

In concluding, we extend our sincere thanks to Relux for this wonderful opportunity and the generous offering provided to BHA School of Lighting’s premier course students. This partnership ensures our learners have access to world-class tools that enhance their skills and prepare them for success in the lighting industry.

Advocating A Salutogenic Approach to Lighting with Dr. Amardeep M. Dugar (CPD Activity)

BOOK YOUR PLACE

Cost: Free of Charge

Date: 20 November 2025

Time: 5:45pm for 6pm – 7pm CAT/CET

Presenter: Dr. Amardeep M. Dugar, Founder & Principal at Lighting Research & Design (Chennai, India)

About: Salutogenesis is a term applied in health sciences referring to an approach towards wellness focusing on health, and is different from pathogenesis that focuses on diseases and illness. This presentation by Dr. Dugar describes lighting design strategies that lean towards salutogenesis beginning with the need for such an approach, the next steps towards implementing such strategic and tactical solutions, and the challenges of adopting such a broad and innovative strategy to improve health, well-being and performance.

Lighting design with a salutogenic approach is presented as a tangible solution to an often-intangible issue by experimenting with the eight dimensions of wellness identified by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) namely: physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, environmental, social, occupational and financial wellness. The salutogenesis model referring to life experiences that help shape one’s sense of coherence through comprehensibility, manageability and meaningfulness is used as a basis. Additionally, a novel approach to bridging the common gap between high-concept design theory and practical construction-application solutions is presented, with positive value to the health, performance, quality-of-life and well-being.

Presenter Bio: Dr. Amardeep M. Dugar has been actively engaged in the domain of architectural lighting design since the year 2002. As a qualified architect, he champions the comprehensive aspects of lighting, encompassing design, education, and research. In 2010, he established Lighting Research & Design, a firm that embodies these principles.

His academic journey includes obtaining a Master of Arts in architectural lighting from the University of Wismar in Germany, followed by a Ph.D. in the same field from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand, which has further enhanced his stature as a leader in both academic and professional realms. Among his distinguished contributions to lighting design, Dr. Dugar has worked on significant projects in the commercial, healthcare and hospitality sector, which have garnered prestigious international accolades. Additionally, he was recognized as one of the 40-Under-40 Hottest Lighting Designers in the world by Lighting Magazine in 2016, underscoring his influence and recognition within the industry. In the realm of lighting education, he has imparted knowledge at various architecture institutions and has delivered lectures at numerous prestigious international conferences. His contributions to lighting research are noteworthy, having secured first place at the IISF 2016 – Young Scientists’ Conclave and published numerous articles in esteemed international journals.

He is a professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) and Lighting Designers Association of India (LiDAI), fellow member of the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) and the India Society of Lighting Engineers (ISLE), and member of the Illuminating Engineering Society. He is also the co-founder of an online platform for lighting called the Virtual Lighting Design Community (VLDC). He currently serves on the IES Board of Directors, Chairs the IES Global Development Committee, and is Past President of the Lighting Designers Association of India (LiDAI).

We look forward to seeing you there on Thursday 20 November for this final BHA SoL webinar of the year, it’s sure to offer valuable lighting design insights for health and well-being.
