BHA School of Lighting’s Foundation Lighting e-learning short course is designed to introduce lighting to build environment professionals who may be new employees entering the lighting environment or professionals who seek to have an introduction to the various facets of lighting and the fundamental of design and includes the completion of two Online Tests.

The first module covers fundamental principles, including visual requirements, lighting standards, different light sources, and interior/exterior luminaire applications. It also explores essential concepts like lighting design, road and street illumination, light distribution, and basic calculations to optimize efficiency. The second module expands into modern advancements, examining the Fourth Industrial Revolution and smart lighting innovations, such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Power over Ethernet, Bluetooth Mesh, and Indoor Positioning Systems. Additionally, students gain insight into Human-Centric Lighting, economic considerations in lighting design, and environmental impacts like light pollution, shaping a comprehensive understanding of the industry’s evolving landscape.
