The Principal´s Pen
Well, we are a quarter of the way through 2024. 2024 just keeps on giving and new projects continue to flow in from many different locations for BHA Lighting Design & Consulting.
During the month of March we launched our brand-new course, “Lighting Design for Offices” during March. The course takes an in depth look at lighting design and layout types of offices through the ages. Students will culminate their office lighting journey in the modern era. Students are required to complete tasks in the process of lighting design, whereafter they complete an online examination. It has been specifically developed for anyone who is involved in lighting design for offices to ensure that best practice is learnt for full compliance with the applicable standards and regulations.
The new, short course, BHASL019: Lighting Design for Offices is available to anyone who would like to enroll for this fascinating course on an important subject. The course launch promo fee is USD190 or ZAR3500 if you enroll before 30 April 2024, thereafter the enrolment fee will revert to USD245 or ZAR4500.
The first group of students from The Marketing Home Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are nearing the completion of their course. We will finalise the additional courses for the company after Ramadan.
We are extremely excited to share the news that we are in the process of having our course/s accredited by the European Agency for Higher Education Accreditation (EAHEA) for online higher education courses specifically. We anticipate receiving the final accreditation within 45 days.
It was recently my privilege and pleasure to have been asked to present content in a short webinar format by Gerrit Viljoen of Productivity Pitstop. It was a great challenge to present for 17 minutes on “Lighting for Productivity”. With this challenge, I decided to put Microsoft Co-Pilot to the test. I asked it to prepare a slide presentation for me, to last 17 minutes on Lighting for Productivity. It was amazing how it delivered exactly what the “doctor” ordered. Twelve slides, incredibly well ordered even with detailed instructions for each slide. It ended reminding me as follows: “Remember to pace your presentation to cover each slide in about a minute, leaving some time for transitions and audience engagement.”
You will remember that I shared our initial experience using Copilot in the March edition of our newsletter and we continue to work closely with Richard De Villiers of Productivity Active as we continue learning still more about Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Planner daily.
Students continue to receive their invitations to attend the FREE Student Support Session using Microsoft Team on the first Wednesday of every month at 18:00 SAST. This session is open to all Advanced Diploma in Illumination Engineering students. We plan to extend the invitation to students of other courses offered by us. Students to note that you do not need to have Teams installed to attend, the link that you receive will make it possible to attend and enjoy a great relaxed time together.
Our second-year students continue to make excellent progress with several due to graduate soon and we wish the following first year students well, as they prepare for the final phase of first year and their preparations for the examinations:
- Rinkesh Kumar, Uttar Pradesh, India
- Priyanka Praful, Bangalore, India
- Justine Williams, Paarl, South Africa
- Charmaine Conradie, Paarl, South Africa
- Shamielah Jacobs, Paarl, South Africa
- Rojean Morris, Paarl, South Africa

Philip Hammond

Presenter: Cristina Blanco Estévez, Digital Marketing Expert, Selváticas – Marketing Digital
About this Webinar: The need and use of social media and digital tools is, nowadays, undoubted. However, it is a common concern for today’s lighting professionals (and, to be honest, professionals of all fields) how to effectively seize and make use of these digital tools, and where and how these efforts should be focused.
In an already high-demanding professional life, the creation of an adequate and fruitful digital presence seems, sometimes like the cherry on top. Well, this webinar comes to ease your concerns; not only are there are a variety of (free-of use!) tools which can help you manage your online presence, but there are some guidelines, and some “do’s” and “dont’s” that can aid you when facing the start, delivery or evaluation of your personal digital presence.
With +15 years of experience in the Digital Marketing industry, Cristina Be will be guiding us through a few tricks on content strategy creation and how to improve LinkedIn presence by providing some insightful social media examples of interest for the lighting industry professionals.
Speaker Bio: Cristina BE‘s digital marketing expertise has evolved hand in hand with the development of social media channels. She started working as early as 2007 as a Community Manager (before the position was even officially coined as such), she then went on to work as a marketing manager for big advertising and PR agencies in Madrid, Spain.
As of today, she has dedicated the last 10 years to independently help and improve the digital presence of individuals, small and big companies and brands. Specialized in digital data reports and content writing, she is now focused on making sure her client’s social media presence is coherent, effective and attractive.
Send Cristina an email if you require any form of digital marketing expertise at hola@cristinabe.es.
